Quarterly Update #2: Urgent embolisation
Embolisation is a well-established interventional radiology technique used to treat patients with massive traumatic or iatrogenic haemorrhage, to control bleeding after childbirth and as a pre-surgical treatment to reduce blood loss.
Interventional radiology has much to offer and plays a key role in the management of urgent and emergent bleeding. Not all embolisable territories are treated in the same way, or with the same
materials, or take the same risks. For us, it is essential to not only know the anatomy, but also the techniques and the different materials available when deciding when, how, and where to
perform embolisation in a haemorrhage.
It is essential to keep up to date on techniques, materials, and approaches and CVIR Endovascular has a wide range of articles on traumatic embolisation, as well as on the use of different
materials in emergency situations or even extreme vascular approaches.

Quarterly Update #1: Infertility
According to a report published by the WHO last April, infertility affects one
in six adults worldwide. Infertility spares no one: all rich, poor and middle-income countries are affected. It occurs for both male and female causes: approximately one-third have female
etiology, another third have male etiology, and up to one-third have unknown etiology.
Up to 40% of female infertility is considered to be due to problems located in the fallopian tubes and up to 25% to tubal obstruction. Within the etiology of male infertility, varicocele is among
the most frequent treatable causes of male infertility and its resolution is beneficial in improving semen parameters and pregnancy rate when patients are properly selected. In addition,
interventional radiology also provides treatments for venous and arterial erectile dysfunction.
